Events & Registration

Events & Registration

Whether you are planning a fundraising gala, a volunteer orientation, or a community workshop, Nonprofitable. helps you create events, manage registrations, and track attendance -- all connected to your people database.

Creating an Event

  1. Go to Events in the sidebar.
  2. Click + New Event.
  3. Fill in the event details:
    • Name -- What is the event called?
    • Description -- Tell attendees what to expect.
    • Location -- Where it is happening (address or virtual link).
    • Date and time -- Set start and end times, or mark as an all-day event.
    • Format -- In-person, online, or hybrid. Online/hybrid events can include a meeting URL and join instructions.
    • Tags -- Add tags to categorize the event (e.g., "Fundraiser," "Workshop").
  4. Click Save to create the event as a draft.

Event Status

Every event has a status that controls its visibility:

  • Draft -- The event is being planned. It is visible in your dashboard but not published publicly.
  • Published -- The event is live. It appears on your public website events block and has a public registration page.
  • Cancelled -- The event has been called off. Registrants can be notified.

To change an event's status, open the event and update it from the detail view. Moving from draft to published makes the event available for public registration.

Ticket Types & Pricing

Events can have one or more ticket types with different prices:

  • Free events -- No ticket types needed. Anyone can register.
  • Paid events -- Add ticket types with prices. Payments are handled through Stripe.
  • Pay-at-door -- Registrants reserve a spot and pay when they arrive.
  • Pay-what-you-want -- Set a suggested amount with an optional minimum.

Each ticket type can have its own capacity limit.

Capacity & Waitlist

Set a capacity limit on the event or on individual ticket types. When capacity is reached:

  • If waitlist is enabled, new registrants are added to a waitlist and notified of their position.
  • If waitlist is disabled, registration closes with a "sold out" message.

When someone cancels, the first waitlisted person is automatically promoted and notified.

Registration System

When an event is published, a public registration page is created automatically. Anyone with the link can register by providing their name, email, and selecting a ticket type.

Registrations are connected to your people database:

  • If the registrant's email matches an existing person, the registration links to their record.
  • If the email is new, a person record is created automatically.

This means event registrations grow your CRM without any extra data entry.

Calendar Invites

When someone registers for an event, they receive a confirmation email with an ICS calendar invite attached. Adding this to their calendar (Google, Apple, Outlook) creates a calendar entry.

When you update an event (change the time, location, or name), all registered and waitlisted attendees automatically receive an "Event Updated" email with a new calendar invite. Their calendar app recognizes it as an update and replaces the old entry.

The Public Event Page

Each published event has a public page at a clean URL (e.g., /e/your-org/event-name) that shows:

  • Event name, description, and format
  • Date, time, and location
  • Ticket types with prices and remaining capacity
  • A registration form

You can share this page link in email appeals, on social media, or embed it on your website using the Events block.

Managing Registrations

From the event detail view, you can see everyone who has registered. The registration list shows:

  • Registrant name and email
  • Registration status (registered, waitlisted, attended, cancelled)
  • Ticket type and payment status
  • Any linked person record

You can change registration status, cancel registrations (with automatic refund for online payments), and manually promote from the waitlist.
