Getting Started
Getting Started
Welcome to Nonprofitable. -- the unified platform built for small and mid-sized nonprofits. Whether you manage a community arts program, an education nonprofit, or a social services organization, everything you need lives in one place: your people, email appeals, website, events, volunteers, and fundraising.
This guide walks you through your first steps so you can start making an impact right away.
Your First Steps
When you first sign in, you will see an onboarding checklist on your dashboard. It walks you through five key setup tasks:
- Set your subdomain -- Your org gets a public web address like
yourorg.nonprofitable.com. This is set automatically from your organization name, but you can customize it in Settings. - Add your first person -- Head to People and click + New Person. Enter a name and email to create your first record.
- Create a tag -- Tags help you organize people, events, and volunteers. Create one like "Board Member" or "Monthly Donor" to start categorizing.
- Send your first email -- Go to Email to compose and send an appeal. Pick a template, write your message, choose your audience, and send.
- Connect Stripe -- If you plan to accept gifts, connect your Stripe account in Settings so funds go directly to your organization.
You can dismiss the onboarding checklist at any time from your organization settings, and revisit any of these steps whenever you like.
Navigating the Platform
The left sidebar is your main navigation. Here is what each area does:
- Dashboard -- Your home base with key metrics, upcoming events, and quick actions. See Dashboard Overview.
- People -- Your CRM. Manage everyone your org interacts with -- donors, volunteers, members, supporters. See Managing People.
- Groups -- Curated lists of people for committees, teams, or mailing lists.
- Audiences -- Dynamic filters that automatically update as your data changes. See Audiences & Filters.
- Email -- Create and send appeals with a visual editor. See Email Appeals.
- Website -- Build and publish your public website. See Website Builder.
- Events -- Plan events and manage registrations. See Events & Registration.
- Volunteers -- Track volunteer profiles, hours, and availability. See Volunteer Management.
- Fundraising -- Manage giving, appeals, and funds. See Giving & Fundraising.
- Reports -- View pre-built reports across people, email, events, and volunteers.
Keyboard Navigation
Nonprofitable. is designed for speed. On any list page, use these keyboard shortcuts:
- W / S -- Move up and down through the list
- D -- Open the detail drawer for the selected item
- A -- Close the detail drawer or create panel
These shortcuts work across People, Audiences, Events, Volunteers, and more. You will see a shortcut bar at the bottom of each page as a reminder.
What is Next?
Start with people. Your CRM is the foundation of everything else -- email targeting, event invitations, giving tracking, and volunteer coordination all connect back to your people records. The more complete your data, the more powerful every other feature becomes.
